Services Overview

Services are the core of your Reservai business — they're what customers actually book. A service connects your pricing, schedule, resources, branches, add-ons, and policies into a single bookable product.

This overview page explains how services work and points you to the detailed guides for each area.

What Is a Service?

A service is anything you offer that a customer can book — a 60-minute massage, a 3-day equipment rental, a weekly yoga class, or a guided tour.

Each service has:

  • A name, description, and price
  • A duration — minutes, hours, or days
  • One or more branches where it's offered
  • One or more resources needed to deliver it (staff, rooms, equipment)
  • Policies for cancellations, deposits, and no-shows
  • Optional add-ons customers can add at checkout

Service Structure

Here's how the pieces fit together:

Branches

A service can be offered at one or more branches. Only customers booking at an eligible branch will see that service.

Resources

Resources are the people, rooms, or equipment needed. See the Resources page for details on:

  • Resource types — Staff, Room, Equipment, Vehicle, Facility, Asset
  • Behaviour modes — Operational (one booking at a time) vs Hub (multiple simultaneous)
  • Capacity & overlap — how the system handles concurrent bookings

Each resource has its own availability schedule — see Resource Scheduling.

Add-Ons

Add-ons let customers customise their booking — add insurance, upgrade a service, or add extra items. See Services & Pricing for:

  • Simple add-on pricing
  • Option groups (dynamic pricing)
  • Charge units (per booking, per guest, per day)
  • Add-on duration (parallel vs sequential)

Policies

  • Deposits — require a partial payment to secure the booking
  • Cancellation — set free cancellation windows and refund percentages
  • No-Show — configure fees for missed appointments
  • Recurring — enable recurring series (weekly sessions, monthly packages)

Service Lifecycle

Creation

Services go through this lifecycle:

  1. Draft — you create the service, fill in details, save without publishing
  2. Submitted — you set the service to Active, which submits it for platform review
  3. Pending Review — platform team checks the service for compliance
  4. Approved — service appears on your public booking page and is fully bookable
  5. Changes after approval — if you edit an approved service, it goes back for re-review
  6. Archived — service is removed from public view but data is preserved

Status Badges

Badge Meaning
Pending (yellow) Waiting for admin review
Approved (green) Passed review — fully bookable
Resubmitted (blue) Changed after approval — needs re-review
Rejected (red) Did not pass — see admin notes and resubmit

{info} Even pending or rejected services can be used at your counter through POS. The restriction only applies to the public booking page.
